Summary

Mental-health stigma arises from misinformation, fear, and negative societal attitudes, leading to discrimination and social exclusion. ROLES aims to equip youth workers, trainers, facilitators, mentors, and NFE professionals with practical art-based methodologies to tackle mental health stigma and strengthen youth workers’ resilience. The integration of expressive, creative, experiential techniques, including theatre, role-playing and somatic methods into non-formal education will capacitate youth professionals with tools to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions around mental health, thus fostering inclusive youth work practices and empathy. Through intensive capacity-building activities that delve deep into both theory and practice, youth professionals will gain hands-on experience in using the arts as a powerful tool for engagement, advocacy, and mental-health de-stigmatization in youth work, through practical implementation, locally and internationally.

ROLES brings together EU and Western Balkan partners from different realities to exchange expertise and diverse perspectives on art-based techniques and methods, ensuring a cross-border transfer of knowledge and enhancing the skills of youth professionals across different cultural and social contexts. This approach will create a sustainable impact by expanding the network of trained professionals who can continue to integrate art-based methods into their work, breaking down stigma and promoting mental health awareness among young people.

The project’s key objectives include increasing the pool of competent and resilient youth professionals that support youth communities, empowering young participants, including those with fewer opportunities, and creating sustainable resources for long-term impact. This holistic approach seeks to create a supportive network of youth workers, that extends beyond the project, fostering positive change in the attitudes of mental health within their local youth communities.

Summary

Objectives:

Beyond Borders from Italy, together with partners Shokkin form Estonia, Go Alive from Greece, KOM 018 from Serbia, Teatro Metaphora form Madeira-Portugal and CODEC from Belgium would like to implement project CIVIKO in order to enhance the democratic participation of young people through innovative methodologies in form of board game.
Partners developed this project idea by taking into account several important facts. Participation in the democratic life of any community is about more than voting or standing for election, although these are important elements. Young people are motivated and interested in political issues in our societies, however they find that traditional avenues for participation are not delivering on their promise.

Aim:

To enhance the democratic participation of young people through innovative methodologies

Objectives:

To promote the importance of youth participation among community members (WP4) – By month 24, execute an online and offline awareness campaign, including social media outreach, public debates

To develop new tools for education on democratic participation (WP2) – by the end of month 12, to design and publish at least one comprehensive educational toolkit on democratic participation, including a board game and facilitator’s guide, to be used by youth organizations across partner countries.

To build capacities of youth workers coming from partner countries on youth participation (WP3) – by month 18, to conduct at least one international training course and six local workshops, equipping a minimum of 140 youth workers with skills and knowledge on democratic engagement and civic participation.

To use games in raising the awareness about youth participation among youth (WP4) – by month 20, to develop, test, and implement a gamified learning approach, including at least five CIVIKO tournaments in partner countries, engaging at least 500 young people in experiential learning about democratic participation.

Summary
Voter turnout, one of the most important forms of political participation, has been declining since the 1950s, posing a major challenge to democracies around the world. The question of who participates in political decision-making is one of the defining features of democracy. A situation in which only a few participate in the political process or in which certain groups are excluded from decision-making imposes clear limits on democratic rule. In the youth sector, the need that emerges particularly is to strengthen the active role of the new generations in the processes of civic and political life. Young people, and more specifically, those of disadvantaged backgrounds, lack the opportunities and the (soft and hard) skills to create a voice for themselves.

This becomes an enormous obstacle to their ability to participate in civic and political life. Therefore, the project aims to empower disadvantaged youth through comprehensive training in hard skills, soft skills, and media literacy, with a particular focus on the design and implementation of youth festivals as dynamic tools within local contexts. The primary objective is to enhance civic engagement, foster increased political participation, and promote community building among the youth. These festivals are envisioned as vibrant expressions of pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity, and equality, representing the diverse perspectives and values of the younger generation.

The project structure, developed through a co-design phase, is based on an innovative model of governance with each WP to be co-governed by two partners:

Summary

The main goal of the project is to increase the capacity of the youth work sector to analyse, challenge and shift negative biases about diversity (in an intersectional manner), in mainstream narratives and cultural paradigms.

Specific Objectives:

To introduce and promote, in the youth work field evidence-based, innovative and provocative tools to challenge negative narratives and paradigms

To create a network of 21 Intersectionality Experts competent to challenge the negative narratives around diversity in their societies.

To increase the level of sensitivity to diversity among 4900 young people in 7 countries.

The general structure of the project is:
1) Kick-Off Meeting
2) Training – Diversity and Intersectionality – mainstream narratives and cultural paradigms
3) How is diversity reflected in our countries? What is the state of art? – Each partner will conduct a research in which media content, educational curriculum, and administrative procedures will be analysed through intersectional perspective. The conclusions and recommendations from this research will be used in the second part of the project
4) Training – Offline and Online Tools for shifting narratives and increasing the sensitivity to diversity – how to change it?
5) Local activities – testing methods (face to face and online): Each partner will design and implement learning activities (using the tools developed in the consortium) for at least 4900 young people.
6) Finalising the resources produced in the project
– The final research report with comprehensive recommendations relevant for the field
– A tool kit with practical tools and examples that can be used by other practitioners.

Summary

The project aims to build the capacity of youth organizations to effectively challenge dominant public and media narratives surrounding feminism and feminist issues.

Specific objectives:

• To conduct a comprehensive comparative research study analysing representations of gender, gender-based violence, and feminist issues in mainstream media and popular culture across 6 countries to identify prevalent narratives, stereotypes, and discrepancies.
• To create a network 24 youth workers with competencies to use Newspaper Theatre techniques and Online campaigning in order to challenge dominant negative narratives on feminist issues within their respective societies.
• To increase the level of critical thinking and consumption of media content on feminist issues (focus on gender norms, gender based violence, problematic narratives etc.) for at least 1200 young people
• To conduct an online campaign that promotes an alternative narrative around feminist issues that will reach out to at least 5500 young people (500 young people/country+ 2000 internationally)

Objectives:

The project aims to enhance social inclusion through theatrical approaches. Key objectives include developing training modules, a MOOC platform, and fostering collaboration among educators and youth workers to empower them with innovative tools for social inclusion. The platform will focus on introducing black light theatre to young individuals as well as on raising awareness about its use in workplaces by providing real-life scenarios of potential cases.

Summary

Objectives:
V.E.G.A. project aims to raise awareness among young people about European policies addressing them and, in particular, the European Youth Goals.
Young participants will be trained on the importance of the E.Y.G. and will later create five visual art pieces (comics, graffiti, photography, graphic and video art) as informative tools for their peers and the community. The creation of these artworks will help young participants develop new skills, and be active citizens.

– Exchange of knowledge among young peers about E.Y.G.;
– Local workshops about visual arts (comics, graffiti, photography, graphic art and video art);

Summary

Objectives:
The project “UNIQUE” will involve three international partners to enhance the quality of creative methodologies for Youth Work, based on interactive storytelling, installations, and theatre. These methods will be based on stories of hardship and fewer opportunities to promote inclusion directly in local communities, implementing the new methodology with local youth groups in Italy, Spain, and Portugal. The project will culminate in three parallel Dissemination events fostering inclusion.

Activities:
The project includes 3 International Training courses for Youth Workers interested in developing a new creative methodology to foster inclusion. This new methodology will be applied to 3 local activities engaging youth groups and local communities on the themes of inclusion. The local activities will culminate in Dissemination events open to the public, to give voice to youngsters with fewer opportunities and/or marginalized. 3 Transnational meetings will allow organization and monitoring.

Impact:
The project will result in a creative exchange between organizations developing creative Youth Work. It will produce Digital guidelines for a new creative methodology along with detailed suggestions for its application in Youth Work and video documentation of the whole process. It will finally enhance the employability of Youth Workers and local youngsters, through a learning process that hinges on horizontal and creative skills.

Summary

The projects aims to enhance equity, social cohesion and active citizenship through building the capacity of civil society organizations from 7 countries, to use theatre of oppressed methodology for a holistic approach towards social inclusion process targeting especially vulnerable youth, in a 3 year project flow: Empower, Activate, Engage and Advocate.

Specific objectives:

1. To support 1400 young people in risk of social exclusion to be empowered and develop adequate competencies to handle better and overcome challenges in their life.
2. To engage in an in-depth consultation process at least 2100 vulnerable young people and create a Youth Manifesto.
3. To influence the process of policies reform at local/regional/central level concerning vulnerable youth groups through a consolidated advocacy process.
